1)    **JUST OPENED TO ALL: JSIS 498: Readings in International Studies: US War in Iraq with Prof. Resat Kasaba**

W 1:30 – 4:30 p.m., MGH 097

Students will explore the pivotal conflict of the US war in Iraq in this dynamic upper-level seminar. The course is now open to all students! It is led by the renowned Prof. Resat Kasaba, an expert in Middle Eastern studies and an engaging educator; this small, discussion-driven seminar course offers a deep dive into the war’s political, historical, and human dimensions. 2)    **JUST OPENED – NEW COURSE: JSIS B 438: International Conflict through Film and Art** - FLYER ATTACHED

MW 9:30-11:20 am., CMU 226

This year, the course focuses on how conflicts in the Middle East are portrayed in film and art, examining them from local, national, and global perspectives. With current events in the region as a backdrop, we’ll explore how filmmakers, artists, and craftivists respond to these conflicts. We’ll also analyze how visual and oral media convey compassion, empathy, and complexity while fostering solidarity and community in the context of regional struggles.  Instructor: Andrea Arai – Questions?
