CSSS 322 / STAT 322 / SOC 322: Data Science and Statistics for Social Sciences II

Course description: Learn to execute and consume quantitative social science research in elegant and thoughtful ways. This course will deepen what you started in 321, including through topics related to developing social theory; advanced regression; communicating results to different audiences; epistemology; and exploratory quantitative methods including natural language processing. This is not (just) a math class – it is an applied research methodology class that helps you prepare for a research career in academia or industry.
Example topics covered:
• Measurement and operationalization
• Regression with interaction terms
• Logistic regression
• Scientific communication to multiple audiences
• The history of social statistics
