German Cultural Studies Major Launch & Information Session

Submitted by Junhee Park on
The German Studies Department has introduced a new major option: German Studies: Cultural Studies.

This major provides students with intermediate to advanced competency in German, analytical skills, intercultural competence, and the ability to work across disciplines.  As opposed to the German Studies major option, the Cultural Studies pathway only requires completion of the second year of German language study (GERMAN 203), making it easier for students pursuing a major in a complimentary field to also complete a degree in German Studies.  Full requirements are available on the department’s website here: https://german.washington.edu/german-studies-cultural-studies.

The Humanities Academic Services advising team invites all interested students to attend the German Cultural Studies Information Session on next Thursday, May 1, at 5:00 PM in Denny 359.  This information session will take place at the beginning of the German Club’s weekly meeting.  Professor Jason Groves and HAS will be presenting a short overview of the major, providing handouts on the major, and answering any student questions.  Students can then stay and join the German Club in their meeting activities.

Any students interested in the German Cultural Studies major may connect with Humanities Academic Services advisers by making an appointment or emailing has-center@uw.edu
