UW professors Aseem Prakash and Lance Bennett have been recognized among the top 100 political scientists in the world by Research.com...Their rankings reflect the global reach of UW’s political science department, as well as the lasting impact of both professors’ research. Prakash and Bennett have spent their careers navigating important issues, and their work continues to shape academic conversations around democracy, governance, and more.

“I think it's nice to be recognized, but the important thing is, in academia, one is often working in teams,” Prakash said. “So this is not the recognition of an individual, it is a recognition of the research program and all the people that I’ve worked with.”

Now retired and serving as a professor emeritus of communication and political science, Bennett worked at UW from 1974 to 2020. While he’s written about a range of topics, he specializes in political media and communication research, and serves as a senior research fellow at the Center for Journalism, Media and Democracy...“It is nice to be recognized in this way,” Bennett said. “However, I appreciate the personal recognition from colleagues that comes with various honors from professional associations. And I am most proud of the awards I have received from UW.”
