APSA Diversity Fellowship Program

Applications for the 2026-2027 APSA Diversity Fellowship Program, Fall Cycle are now open! The deadline for submissions is October 26, 2025. Click here to apply.

Applicants for the DFP Fall Cycle must be undergraduate seniors, recent graduates, or other individuals (including students in terminal MA programs) in the process of applying for PhD programs in political science. Awarded fellows will receive $5000, disbursed over two years.

Fall applicants must be: 

  • Engaged in or planning to pursue political science research and scholarship primarily focused on race, ethnicity, gender, systemic racism, LGBTQ politics, disability politics, indigenous politics, or tribal sovereignty and governance.
  • Be a US citizen, US national, US permanent resident (holder of a Permanent Resident Card), or an individual granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) at the time of application.
  • Able to demonstrate an interest in teaching and potential for research in political science. 

First generation students/scholars and individuals from the following historically under-represented racial/ethnic groups such as African Americans, Asian and Asian Pacific Americans, Latinos/as, American Indians or Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians and scholars of MENA descent are strongly encouraged to apply.
