From UW Law:
UW Law is hosting former federal judges, legal academics, and media from around the country this Friday and Saturday for a Symposium, Neither Sword Nor Purse: Defending America’s Independent Judiciary and the Rule of Law.
This two-day national symposium will convene retired federal judges, legal leaders, scholars and journalists to examine the rule of law, the foundations of judicial independence, and current attacks on courts. Inspired by Alexander Hamilton’s observation that the judiciary has neither “the sword” nor “the purse,” the program will explore how courts depend on public trust and constitutional principles to sustain their authority.
Students interested in the program are welcome to watch the Symposium being live-streamed by TVW at the following links:
We hope you will join us for this engaging and timely dialogue about protecting judicial independence and sustaining the rule of law.
