GEOG 445 A: Geography of Housing (5 credits)

Description: Focuses on the geography of housing, especially in the United States. Topics include: the American dream of home ownership; housing affordability and differential access to home ownership; homelessness; the history of public housing; housing demography; residential mobility and neighborhood change, and discrimination in the housing market.

GEOG 456 A: Internal Migration in the United States (5 credits)

Description: This course is about internal migration in the United States and the use of quantitative methods, statistical analysis, and data science techniques to study this migration. Recommended: familiarity with the R programming language (or similar programming language) and RStudio; and either GEOG 315, GEOG 317, GEOG 326, or GEOG 360.

GEOG 495 A: Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (5 credits)

Description: This course explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and geographic knowledge through the lens of machine learning, deep learning, and generative models. Designed for students in the social sciences and humanities, this course introduces foundational AI concepts and their applications in geospatial analysis, such as land use mapping, intelligent agents, and spatial storytelling. No advanced programming background is required. Curiosity about AI, maps, and their implications in society is encouraged.
