Course Description: Examines how communication about the environment influences beliefs, values, and treatment of the natural world. Topics include new coverage of the environment; media strategies and rhetoric used by activists, government agencies, and industry to address environmental issues; representations of the environment in popular culture; and/or political argumentation about environmental policy. Course Description: Rhetorical criticism of historical public speeches, essays, and declarations. Covers the beginnings of the nation to the middle of the twentieth century.
