Are you interested in study or research opportunities in Germany? Do you want to improve your German language skills? Are you trying to expand your transatlantic network into Germany?

 

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides opportunities to gain international academic and research experiences in Germany. Students and graduates of American universities, with all citizenships, are eligible for these programs! No prior German language skills are required to participate: many graduate degree programs at German universities are taught in English, and most research environments operate in English.

  • For undergraduates and graduates, the DAAD provides financial support for international research and graduate study each year. There are DAAD Study and DAAD Research scholarship opportunities for students from all fields interested in pursuing study or research in Germany.

 

Important dates for the DAAD Study/Research awards:

  • UW DAAD Priority consideration deadline: October 2, 2026  (UW applicants must email a PDF of their application to fulbright@uw.edu by October 2, 2026, to be reviewed by the UW DAAD committee. Priority candidates will receive feedback from the committee to strengthen their application and prepare for the final DAAD deadline.)
  • Final DAAD Application deadline: October 30, 2026; 11:59 PM Central Europe Time  
  • Announcement of DAAD awards: April 2027
