Interested in learning about the meaning of justice and the methods used in efforts to realize it? Curious about how the politics of rights and legal institutions structure our social life? If so, consider majoring (or double majoring) in Law, Societies & Justice! The Law, Societies, and Justice Department offers undergraduate students a dynamic and engaged interdisciplinary liberal arts education focused on law, rights, and justice.
To be eligible to apply to the Law, Societies & Justice major (LSJ), students must meet the following prerequisite criteria, including minimum grades and the successful completion of prerequisite coursework.
- A minimum cumulative UW GPA of no less than 2.5
- One course from the UW English Composition list (5 credits)
- LSJ 200
- One (1) LSJ 300-level core human rights or law course (see departmental approved listing)

The LSJ major application is now open and accepting submissions.
Students must submit all application components by the second Friday of the quarter, Friday, October 9th @ 4:00pm.
If you’re planning to apply to the LSJ major, you are encouraged to attend one of our upcoming admissions workshops. These sessions will provide additional clarity on the admissions process and logistics and offer students a chance to ask questions and workshop ideas.
