
Biography
Hassan Aziz is a second-year PhD student in Political Science at the University of Washington and a Richard Wesley Fellow in Environmental Politics. He is also the recipient of Emily Smith Fellowship in Environmental Politics for 2025 and 2026. He will also serve as the graduate coordinator for the Center for Environmental Politics' Duck Family Colloquium Series for academic year 2025-26. His research examines environmental policy, climate finance, and energy transitions, with a primary focus on Pakistan and a comparative lens across South Asia.
He earned an MA in Social Science from the University of Chicago as a Fulbright Scholar in 2023 and BSc (Hons) in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in 2020. His professional experience spans the environmental sector, including work with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), as well as roles in the tech industry and strategy consulting. Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, Hassan has also lived in Chicago (and is a huge fan of both cities).
